Designing a look for a bedroom can be a lot of fun, but it can also be a great challenge to make the space look exactly as you envision. An often overlooked item in bedroom design is a floor mirror which makes a fantastic addition to just about any decor style.

The addition of a floor standing mirror that is also a piece of furniture ads a touch of sophistication to the room that a standard mirror hung on a wall simply cannot compete with. Even the most beautifully framed wall mirrors don’t provide the same charm and feeling of luxury that a standing mirror provides.
When placing a floor length mirror piece of furniture in the room, you need to be mindful of the windows. If you are going for a bright atmosphere with plenty of light, try to position the mirror so that reflects any natural light from windows. Not only will this brighten the space, but it can also further the illusion of the space being larger than it really is.
If you’re goal is to have a room that is softly lit, avoid placing the floor mirror opposite any bright windows or opposite the entrance to a bath room from which bright light will emerge and reflect back into the room. You can take advantage of adding more ambiance to the room placing the mirror so that it reflects back light of a muted lamp, or an arrangement of candles placed upon a bureau or other piece of furniture.
Yet another advantage of floor mirrors is that they can be angled to show off floor coverings, particularly accent rugs. By reflecting all or part of a fabulous rug you can double the impact that it has on the overall decor and style of the room. In fact, adding an accent rug is another way to boost the overall look and feel of your room; and you can find a variety of information about high-quality rugs on this site including wool rugs, round rugs, wool area rugs and large rugs.
Floor mirrors are available in a wide range of looks and style ranging from contemporary and modern to traditional and even antique. Make sure to match your overall decorating style when selecting a mirror. In addition, you’ll also want to consider size. Large floor mirrors can make quite a dramatic statement, however in a small room they can also take over the space. On the other hand, in a large room a small mirror will be equally out of place.
